A born storyteller, I began composing from my backyard swing what could only be called ‘Swingsongs’ for the enjoyment (or chagrin) of anyone within earshot. There may have been a collective sigh of relief in my neighborhood once I learned to write and abandoned my swing for paper!
A deep appreciation for nature and a strong belief in childhood (and the importance that every child has one) are common threads woven throughout the hundreds of stories I’ve written for children when I’m not reading or writing and sharing stories for grown-ups.
A native of southern Arizona, I continue to bask in the sunny days that allow for endless discoveries long after spellbinding sunsets.
I created Streampebbles, years ago, for readers of all ages and writers at all stages whose creativity is inspired by the awe of a sun-buttered summit and fueled by curiosity for life’s complexities even as we navigate them. It’s in the midst of our observations, and stirred imagination that unsought thoughts become atmospheric definitions of the stories that form in our hearts; those captivating secrets our hearts refuse to keep for long. And why should we?
“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you” ~ Maya Angelou
Whereas creativity flows best with motivation such as nature, music, scented candles (for me, anyway) or events, it can also sneak up on you. For instance, while gardening or washing dishes or driving through a steep mountain pass at daybreak. What inspires you?
If you have a story, a poem, or fond memory you’d like to share, Contact us! If you enjoy what you read here at Streampebbles, join the conversation! Your encouragement may be the breakthrough someone needs or your work, the inspiration we all seek.
Talk to you soon!
“Always be on the lookout for the presence of wonder" ~ E.B. White
From childhood Swingsongs to high school publication, creative writing groups, and conferences to a few more releases, writing has never been a passing thing, a hobby, or a goal. It’s just what I do. Once in a while, I even get paid ;-)
And while writing is a solitary endeavor, the journey need not be lonely. Writing groups with monthly meetings offer much by way of support and camaraderie. But if you don’t happen to have a local writing group, I wholeheartedly recommend the online Insecure Writer’s Support Group for all of that – and more! We meet (online) the first Wednesday of every month.
