Hello friends,
Happy August! It’s National American Adventure Month and (supposedly) the last month of summer. But, no pressure. Besides, school is already back in session here. Go ahead, have that extra cup of coffee 😉
With any luck, the “Dog Days of Summer,” particularly hot and humid weather will be gone in time for “Cat Nights,” an old Irish legend of nine lives and how witches could turn themselves into yowling cats (this time of year is apparently bothersome for cats) eight times before the 17th with the reasonable expectation of turning back into human form. After the 17th, however, all bets are off.
It was August of 1762 when the Earl of Sandwich requested meat between two pieces of bread, and (just like that!) the sandwich was created. On the subject of meat sandwiches, left-handed burgers are baloney!
“God made everyone right-handed; the truly gifted overcome it.” ~ Anonymous
But left-handed humans are generally nice people. I know because I am one 😉 We’re supposed to possess a surprise left hook, but I bat with my right, so I don’t know if I’ll ever surprise anybody. We lefties are said to be creative souls who love music. I doubt we corner that market though it’s good to know. August 13th is Southpaw Day, in case you’re interested.
Book Lover’s Day is on the 9th. Have you picked out something to read? If not, you could always check out what’s new here at Short Stories, Minnows, and Poems, etc.
Did you catch that great big beautiful Sturgeon Super moon? Awesome! Keep your eyes peeled. There’s another one yet to come this month.
Happy trails, everyone!
